Denis Kelly is an Irish artist who makes abstract paintings characterised by hard edge colour motifs, predominantly painted flat on wooden or canvas surfaces. He holds an MFA in painting from NCAD and a BA in Visual Arts Practice from IADT Dún Laoghaire. Previously he worked for a number of years as a graphic designer in Dublin before taking up painting in 2007.
Upcoming exhibition at the RHA Ashford Gallery Dublin in Summer 2021. Recent solo exhibitions: ‘A Sense of Order, A Sense of Disorder’ at Galeria Weber & Weber, Turin, Italy (2018); ‘Impeccable Defect’ at Pallas Projects, Dublin (2017); Structure/Void at Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge (2016) and ‘Edge’ at the Municipal Gallery, dlr Lexicon, Dún Laoghaire (2016). Group exhibitions: RHA Annual, Dublin; Anonymous Drawings, Berlin; RUA Annual Belfast.
His paintings are part of the Office of Public Works Collection, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Collection and held privately in Ireland, UK, Germany and USA.
